i make art, i take photos, i waste time.
I have so many things to think about, but nothing to worry about. I like chocolate milk, giggling in bed and being outside. I'm pretty girly, but I'm not. I enjoy my fiance Steven as much as humanly possible. We met 6 years ago and have been together ever since. He proposed to me on September 25, 2007 on the most magical day ever. It's my favorite day thus far. If you want to read more on that story, head on over here.
P.S. I started collecting images since before I was engaged. So if any are yours holler and I'll credit you for them. Also, I have so many more things to add so if you're bored, check back. xoxo

When we first got engaged we had absolutely no idea where we wanted to get married. First we thought destination, but we felt bad asking our huge families to dish out lots of cashola to come watch us kiss. We fell in love with several places in Santa Barbara and were set to book something out there since its our go-to getaway spot. But then a co-worker of my mom suggested the Villa del Sol d'Oro. At that point I was open to anything so I took a trek to Sierra Madre to scope it out and fell in love on the spot. It's the most romantic place ever. I love the style of the Villa and its natural surroundings. You can't help but feel like you're in some faraway land. Sounds cheesy but it really is another world there. I dragged my MOH and bridesmaid the very next day. And a week later FI and I visited twice in one weekend. We didn't want to leave!

Once we booked the Villa we had to search for a church in the area. Growing up Catholic, getting married in a church was something very important to my parents. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem getting married in the church, but I always imagined getting married outside somewhere at sunset. But since it's important to my parents, we happily obliged. We found the most perfect church in the area, St. Andrews. Here is a photo courtesy of our fabulous photographers blog.

I haven't actually set a theme for our wedding. Basically I'm just picking things here and there that I like and letting things come together organically. The trend I've noticed is lots of whites and creams. I've never been a girl to shy away from color, but for whatever reason, everything I'm attracted to as far as my wedding is concerned, has been way neutral. So for now, our colors are white, cream, blush and eggplant. I haven't decided where exactly eggplant will be featured, but I love it so its staying.
Here's my color scheme as stated above - white, cream, blush, eggplant. I'm looking for pinks that have brown undertones. I'm not sure if blush is a proper name, but for lack of a better name, I'm going with blush. I really like all things romantic: lace, rosettes, natural,

I want my bouquet to be large, full, textural and feminine. I prefer it to be a two-hander, mainly because I like big things. Plus how could you not want to carry around lots and lots of flowers on your wedding day? After speaking with Kristin, we will be using white peonies, ranunculas, open garden roses, spray roses and anemones if available.

For centerpieces, I had a hard time narrowing down what I wanted. Theres so many options that a girl really should be able to have a wedding to celebrate each anniversary me thinks. Anyway, we will be having 2 different kind of arrangements for 20 tables.
The first kind is different height glass square luminaries covered in white and cream textured papers, with white pillar candles, with 4 glass budvases filled with black dahlias spread around.

The second kind is a single low bowl (either ceramic, metal or glass) bursting with gorgeous blooms such as hydrangea, roses, ranunculus, some peonies, anenomes. I haven't decided which kind of bowl to use just yet, because you know, I wait til the last minute but the actual floral part will be simple and similar to this.

My MOH who is a kick-ass seamstress, has also offered to make my linens. When we were planning her wedding a year ago I really loved these custom linens on some wedding website (sorry, can't remember which one!) and immediately knew they'd cost an arm and a leg. She said rosettes are simple to make and since she's such a good sewer, she'll be making these just for us!

Escort cards or place cards, whatever they're called will be displayed similar to this. I love the simplicity of this look!

I can't post pictures of me in my gown because I don't have any. And FI may be a lurker so I don't want to post the picture. But since I enjoy looking at everyones dresses in all the beautiful bios, I'll post my top contenders.

Left: Monique Lhuillier, Scarlett - I adore this dress! The sweetheart neckline is super flattering and the open back is to die for. The alencon lace screams romance for a formal but easygoing look.
Middle: Monique Lhuillier, Rocha - The second I put this dress on I FELT like a bride, even without the veil or any accessories. It was the first dress that my mom picked out that day and it was to die for. Lace, beading, rosettes. Everything I love all combined into one dress and not over the top.
Right: Alvina Valenta, 9658 - This dress is so different...and sexy! My sister made a weird face when I came out in this dress for the first time but surprisingly, I liked it. It's not at all what I pictured for my wedding, but it did make my decision that much harder.

I'm a huge Carrie Bradshaw fan like many women are. I remember seeing her Manolos in the episode "A Woman's Right to Shoes" and falling in love. But being the poor college student I was back then, obviously I could barely afford top ramen let alone designer shoes. But I found the next best thing, a pair of Steve Madden knock-offs and for a fraction of the price. I wore them so much though that they're completely unacceptable to wear on my wedding day. My mom, knowing my complete infatuation with these puppies, has graciously offered to gift them to me. Score! I haven't decided what color to get yet. I can't wait!

I want to look like me on my wedding day. I don't normally wear my hair up on a day-to-day basis so I'm pretty sure I won't wear it up on my wedding day. Thank goodness one of my best friends is a stylist who will also be a guest at my wedding. She has already generously offered to be my shadow and fix any mishaps due to wind or sweat. If the weather is extremely hot in May, I may sweep my natural looking curls into a side-swept thingamabob like Katharine McPhee.
I will be wearing 2 veils on our wedding day. Yep, I'm a two veil bride. I can't help it though. I've always wanted to rock a birdcage veil but could never ignore the mantilla. So, I'm donning both. Since we're doing a first look, I'll probably wear the birdcage for that and then change into the mantilla for the ceremony. Who knows how I'll feel that day but for now, that's the plan.

My handsome hubby to be will be wearing a grey suit. I want him to not wear a tie but he thinks he should at least wear one for the ceremony so we'll see what happens with that. It will be a suit similar to this color.

I'm so thrilled to finally have made a decision regarding the bridesmaid dresses. I wanted them all to wear different dresses in either a blush color or eggplant but that was proving to be a difficult task. There weren't really many options that any of us liked and since we've all been bridesmaids about 256 times, no one wanted to purchase from a bride-ish store. I tossed and turned many nights thinking my only option was to change the color to black and let them choose any dress, but then we found twobirds. Ariane has been so fun to work with thus far. She is the owner and handles everything. She sent me several different swatches at various times because I couldn't make up my mind on color. She was very patient and even sent me a sample of the dress for my girls to try on. Once I made the decision, she set up a secure page for my girls to log into and order direct from her. I definitely recommend twobirds if you're looking for variety of styles with the same fabric.

I was at a spa with some girlfriends relaxing one day and as I was flipping through the pages of yet another wedding magazine, I saw it. The perfect cake that must be mine. It's so simple and chic but still playful at the same time. I adore anemones right now and plan on using them throughout our day so it just works perfectly. I secretly tore the page out of the magazine that day and here it is.

I've never once taken home a favor from a wedding, baby shower or party, unless it was chocolate. So in lieu of favors, we're offering the photos for our photobooth up for our guests to keep. But leaving us with a copy and a lovely written blurb of course. Win-win. |
